This is a crappy iphone photo. I like having a plan when I go into painting tiny gouaches. Like the plated eggs, I had a very specific idea of how I wanted to paint the vase. Background color first which would serve as my light areas, block in the shadows, add detail and highlights. BOOM. DONE. PAINTING SOLVED.
