[101]

I'm taking a plein air class and today we painted boats at the marina just as the sun was setting. I learned the importance of laying down color relationships fast before the light changes. It's a completely different mindset from still life painting. I have a tendency to paint similar colors first so I don't muddy everything up, but when you're painting from life, there's just no time for that!

I split this one into quadrants to try to capture the rapidly changing light. Chronologically: bottom left, top right, bottom right, top left. Definitely very challenging with all the manmade blues mixed with the oranges and pinks.
