I wanted to capture the glow of the backlit leaf and I thought it would be interesting to convey that the yellow flower was not the brightest color in the painting. I failed pretty miserably on this one.

I tried out a rougher canvas panel for this. I don't feel as in control of the sharpness and detail as with the gessoboard. All I really want is to gesso some masonite so there's some brush stroke texture as a base. Maybe I'll try gessoing my own panels if I have the time.
